Nintendo recently officially revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time is getting a new remake on switch 2 in a nintendo direct, with the short teaser ending by confirming a 2026 release window. A rumor that received widespread reporting hints that we may see pre orders open around august but without any confirmation i would treat that with a grain of salt, you probably already saw the announcement or at least heard about it, so lets just jump into what this actually means. with the VERY little shown in the trailer we can't tell much about the game but I have provided a comparison image below so you can see the one scene in the trailer compared to how that same scene looked the last time they we saw it back in the 3ds remaster, and the original N64 game.

This teaser only really gives us a glimpse at the visual style and art direction which means its still up in the air where on the remaster to remake to reimagining range it lands, it could be a super faithful remake or a complete reimagining in the modern open world style established by Breath of The Wild; but the fact that young link (at least in his bed) appears to be wearing some kind of metalic blue "overalls?" on top of his green tunic (which itself appears to be made of a more straw like material) and the lack of his hats and boots implies that at least visually the game will differ from the original more than the 3DS remake did. The changes are interesting since all things considered the 3DS remake was pretty faithful to the n64 version both visually and in gameplay. Nintendo doesn't usually reimagine their games gameplay to heavily in their remakes and remasters and i cant help but notice the similarity between this and the recent Starfox 64 remake on switch 2 which like this doesn't have any form of "remastered" or "HD" iin the name, its just "Starfox", this game does the same thing its got the same name as the N64 original which even the 3DS remaster didn't do since it added "3d" to the end, the reason I bring it up is because Starfox (2026) is a surprisingly faithful remake in gameplay but it features a drastic shift in art direction, and with this OOT remake also seemingly featuring a more drastic shift in art direction than the 3DS one it could follow a similar philosophy.
